BS in Biochemistry, Certificate in Forensic Science, Hamline University, 2025
Research Keywords: Tumor selective degraders, osteosarcoma, MAGEA11
Sara attended Hamline University (2021-2025), where she earned a BS in Biochemistry and a certificate in Forensic Science. During this time, Sara was a student researcher in the Hamline Plasma Laboratory under Dr. Sandhir for two years, working to degrade PFAS chemicals using plasma technology. This fruitful research provided her the opportunity to present at two NCURs (2020 & 2021 national conference of Undergraduate Research) and the ACS Spring 2021 conference. This research also allowed Sara to collaborate with scientists at the University of Minnesota (Chemical Engineering) and the Minnesota Department of Health. These experiences, combined with the CUREs (course-based undergraduate research experiences) in biochemistry, cellular biology, genetics, and molecular cellular biology, got her really excited about cells, cancer therapeutics, and how chemistry and biology can be synergistic for solving complex biological problems.
